In 2004 NGO – Tzeching Ling – was established with the aims of developing Mongolian-Sakya relations and ultimately building a new Sakya monastery in the capital Ulaanbaatar. The founders of the organisation were Khenpo Jamyang Lekshey (Director of the Sakya Centre in Dehra Dun, India), Mongolian lawyer Dugerjav, Ven Otgonbaatar, Ven Tenpa Phuntsog. Advisors to the NGO are the head of the Sakya tradition His Holiness the Sakya Trizin, and Tibet Foundation trustee Phuntsog Wangyal.
Phuntsog Wangyal received the Friendship Medal of Mongolia from Mongolian President for his role in reviving Mongolian religious culture and for making a significant contribution towards cooperation between Mongolia and UK in promoting traditional culture and sipiritual values.
Later the NGO was reorganised into the Sakya Pandita Dharma Chakra Monastery on December 13th 2006 in a major move towards building the actual new monastery. The trustees for the Monastery are H E Ratna Vajra Rinpoche (HH the Sakya Trizin’s eldest son), Khenpo Jamyang Lekshey, Otgonbaatar, Peter Willats and Mr Munkhbat, General Director of the Bid and Big Holding Co.Ltd. The Advisor is Dugerjav Dash-Onolt - Partner, MDS and KhanLex LLP. The spiritual leader of the Monastery is His Holiness the Sakya Trizin. His son H E Ratna Vajra Rinpoche will provide us with all the practical leadership. The executive director Ven. Otgonbaatar will run the everyday work of the Monastery.
Peter Willats has been approved as chairman of the board of Trustees.
June 4-6, 2016, implementing the decision of a Trustees meeting we added H.E Gyana Vajra Rinpoche as a new member of the Trustee Board.
